Do you want to know something? No? Well, too bad, you don't have a choice but to hear this story. Now, please relax. It might be a long tale... well whatever is long for you.

Have your parents ever told you not to accept anything from strangers? If so... hmm... that's good. That's one thing that parents have successfully raised their children about...

Now then, have you ever heard about the engkantada? Whatever your answer is, it doesn't really matter.

Don’t be scared now! I’m only here to tell you a sweet short tale, now as I said: relax as I start. Mother had told the boy never to play at night. After all, that was where things bump in the night! So says the mother to the boy. “Mama!” The boy whined, tears starting to well up on his eyes, “I am a big boy now! I’m turning 10 this year. I won’t be scared.” “Ah, ah.” The mother tsked at her son fondly, “It is dark for you to play and your papa and I do not want you injured. It would break our hearts if that were to happen.” She soothed the boy, her fingers tangled on his hair and the boy leaned against her warm touch.

Yet despite the warnings of the mother, the boy went against his mother’s wishes, her warnings. After all, he was a young boy full of curiosity, full of wonders… Full of naivety. The boy sneaked out, the lackluster of the stars up above are but witnesses of the boy’s actions.

There, by the river, nearly hidden by the trees that welcomed him with open arms, was what he called a sanctuary. An accidental discovery, maybe he could…

He could… “Good evening.” A voice said from his back and he turned to gawk in shock at someone thinking of the same idea as him, “Why are you here?” Someone, a girl a little bit older than him, smiled a sweet smile that can oppose the witnesses in the sky, but the boy can only glare at her, “Why are you here?

The girl can only giggle at the question being shot back at her, “I heard someone entering, and thought it was a thief.”

“I’m no thief!” “Sure.” The girl smiled brighter, “I answered your question, so please answer mine?”

The boy smiled proudly, huffed up his chest and jutted his head out to the sky, “You see-” “Just kidding. I don’t need to hear it.” “Then why ask in the first place?” The boy stomped his foot and pouted, making the girl laugh at his childish antics. “It’s more fun that way.” Was the girl’s reply. And from that day on, those two became inseparable, ‘til death do they part. No one to tell them what to do, free of everything and everyone. The end. That’s their story! Huh… are you saying you’re unsatisfied? That’s all there is to it though. I must say however, you and the boy are quite similar… “After all, you and the boy are under our spell, for all of eternity.”
